William "Bill" Hoplight

William “Bill” Leo Hoplight, Jr. 77, passed away peacefully on February 6th, 2021 at his home in Ashtabula. He was born on October 18th, 1943 in Ashtabula, Ohio, the son of William L. and Irene E. (Rood) Hoplight Sr.

Bill served four years in the United States Air Force from 1961-1965. He owned and operated, Will Haul Anything. He had many hobbies and interests; he enjoyed bowling, playing ping pong, supporting the OSU Buckeye Football team and his local sports teams; the Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Cavaliers. Above all, he enjoyed being “Grampa” to his wonderful grandchildren.

Bill is survived by his loving children: Jean (Bryan) Hoplight-Collins, Mary Hoplight, Jennifer Hoplight, William L. (Tricia) Hoplight III, Elizabeth Barrickllow and 4 step-sons; his siblings:  “Pete” Lloyd Hoplight, Karen (Steve) Harchalk, Pam (Irwin) Chapman and Mark Hoplight; his brother-in-law: Ed Wolford.

He is preceded in death by his parents: William L. and Irene E. (Rood) Hoplight Sr.; his siblings: Jack, Ted and David Hoplight, Sally Wolford and Gloria Farr; his granddaughter: Tiffany Rexrode and great granddaughter: Aryana Collins.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 10th from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at Czup Funeral Home, 1329 Lake Avenue, Ashtabula, Ohio.

Burial will take place on Thursday, February 11th at 12:00 p.m. at Maple Grove Cemetery in Plymouth Ohio.
