Vincent Mecci Obituary

Vincent Mecci, 70, formerly of Conneaut Ohio, passed peacefully on Sept. 22, 2024, at the Veteran’s Care Center located at Carington Park Nursing and Rehabilitation  in Ashtabula, Ohio.

Vinny was born in Conneaut, Ohio Feb. 22, 1954, to Natalias “Ernie” P. Mecci, Sr.  and Etta (Arbogast) Mecci.

Vinny so very proudly served his country as a medic in the US Navy aboard the U.S.S. America CVA-66, a “supercarrier” aircraft carrier he served on during the Vietnam War in the Mediterranean Sea, Indian Ocean and the Gulf of Tonkin.

He worked for many years volunteering as the head cook for the Ashtabula Dream Center's Food Pantry and Soup Kitchen, where he was able to give back to so many people in need.  He enjoyed listening to music, relaxing with friends and he really was a talented cook.

Vinny was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Linda Humphreys and her husband George, and his brother Ernest “Ernie” P. Mecci, Jr.; and his nieces Cynthia Morano and Mykala Humphrey

He is survived by his sisters: Patsy (Greg) Palma, and Tracy (Frank) Miller, his son Louis (Mecci) "Louie" (Adrienne) Adkins; his grandchildren: Russell and Amara; his "stepchildren": Shawn, Jason, Luana, and Jana Braden, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and lifelong friends.

Family would like to thank his nephew Ernie, with whom he made his home for several years, as well as Carington Park in Ashtabula where Vinny has been a resident for the past year, where he found acceptance and belonging.

Graveside funeral services will be announced.  Memorial contributions can be made in his name to the Ashtabula County Veterans Service Commission, 1212 Lake Avenue, Ashtabula, Ohio 44004.

 "Smooth sailing Vincent".
