Thomas B. Rutherford
ASHTABULA – Thomas B. Rutherford, 80, passed away on September 10, 2025, at UH Geauga Hospital following a brief illness.
He was born in Ashtabula, Ohio on February 24, 1945, the son of Cecil and Mary (Vilagi) Rutherford.
Tom was a proud member of the Class of 1963 at St. John High School. Following graduation, he went on to the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science. He worked for many years for Hawkins Ambulance Company.
He was a lifelong member of Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church. He had a strong Catholic faith, and he loved his family more than anything.
Tom was a huge Cleveland Indians and Browns fan. For those who knew Tom they also knew he was a huge fan of any kind of candy; especially a good old Hersey’s Chocolate bar and they knew he was a real jokester with a great sense of humor.
He is survived by his brother Larry Rutherford of Boston, Massachusetts and his sister Marlene (V. Henry) Bruckman of Ashtabula, Ohio, as well as his niece Wendy and nephews Jeff and Tim.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister-in-law Christine Rutherford.
A memorial Mass will be said in his honor at Our Lady of Peace in the fall.
