Stephen Walker Obituary

Stephen Ty Walker, age 56, passed away unexpectedly on January 8, 2026.

Steve was born on September 14, 1969, in Sandusky, Ohio, the beloved son of Tyrone and Rebecca (Rotan) Walker. A proud graduate of Sandusky High School’s Class of 1987, Steve went on to honorably serve his country in the United States Army, carrying his pride and dedication into everything he did in life.

On February 14, 2015, Steve married the love of his life, Andrea Lee Gonzales. Together, they shared ten wonderful years filled with laughter, adventure, and deep companionship. Though their time together was far too short, the bond they built and the memories they created will last forever.

Those who knew Steve will remember his bright smile, his quick wit, and the way he made every person around him feel valued. Saturdays were reserved for cheering on his beloved Ohio State Buckeyes, and Sundays were all about rooting for his Kansas City Chiefs—football was one of his greatest joys. Whether sharing game-day snacks, calling plays from the couch, or teasing friends about rival teams, Steve found happiness in the closeness that came with those moments.

Steve loved to stay active and connected. Even as his health challenges grew, his determination and compassion never wavered. He found purpose in supporting others—volunteering at Victory Kitchen and the local food bank, as well as joining support groups for dialysis patients, where he lifted others’ spirits through humor and kindness.

What truly defined Steve’s heart was his love for family. He was endlessly proud of each of them, cherishing every visit, phone call, and family celebration. His warmth, generosity, and unwavering love will continue to live on through all whose lives he touched.

Steve is survived by his mother Rebecca; his devoted wife, Andrea; his children: Stephen Walker,  Austyn (Dominique) Walker, Trevor (Sarah) Dehn, Trevan (Maddison) Walker, Talyia Walker, and Kaylia Black; his stepchildren Cassiana (Chris) Bowling, Jimmie (Kaitlin) Burns, Jr., and Jazmyne Wadsworth; and his grandchildren Riley, Link, Elle, Mable, Navy, Desmond, Monroe, Leland, Aurora, Raelynn, Selena, Laylani, Azalea, Analicia, and Reina, whom he lovingly helped raise as his own daughter. Steve is also survived by his siblings Tyresa (Miki) McCoy, Dionne Walker, and Rae Michelle (Erik) Mansfield, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and close friends who will miss him dearly.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at VTC Legacy Church, 1619 W. Strub Road, Sandusky. Visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. with military honors to follow.

In life, Steve was devoted to giving—and in death, that legacy continues. Through his organ, eye, and tissue donations, Steve gave the gift of life to others, a final act of generosity that truly captures the essence of who he was: a hero, through and through.
