Sandra Murphy

Sandra Sue (Springer) Murphy, 78, passed away peacefully on January 30th, 2021 at Jefferson Healthcare Center in Jefferson, Ohio. She was born on August 24th, 1942 in Ashtabula, Ohio, the daughter of William and Ruth “Lucille” (McConnell) Springer.

Sandra graduated from High School in 1960 from Jefferson High School. After gradation she went on to attend Beauty School.  Sandra was employed by the Ashtabula County Board of Elections for 33 years where she retired from in 2006. Sandra restarted the Ashtabula County Women’s Republican Club and served as the Secretary for the Republican Party of Ashtabula County.  She was awarded a Certificate of Achievement from the Secretary of State, Kenneth Blackwell for her dedication and years of service to the Ashtabula County Board of Elections.

Sandra was an avid reader and loved to discuss history and politics.  She was an enthusiast on the history of Jefferson and enjoyed sharing this history with others.

Sandra is survived by her loving children: Shari Maylish and James (Tammy) Maylish Jr. and her sister: Marilyn (Andrew) Surkala.

She is preceded in death by her parents: William and Ruth “Lucille” (McConnell) Springer; her dear husband: William “Bill” Murphy and her grandson Timothy Kidner.
