Robert W. Barnard

DORSET, OHIO - Robert “Bob” Barnard, 73, passed away Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at the Cleveland Clinic following a brief illness.

Born in Ashtabula, Ohio, on June 19, 1952, he was the son of David "Sam" and Reva (Snyder) Barnard. Bob graduated from Conneaut High School in 1971 and proudly enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he honorably served his country during the Vietnam conflict.

After returning home, Bob began a remarkable 50-year career as a truck driver—a profession that perfectly suited his strong work ethic and love for the open road. Over the years, he logged more than one million miles, earning the respect and admiration of his fellow drivers. Even during his so-called “retirement years,” Bob continued to work full-time, preferring day trips that kept him close to home yet still behind the wheel. His dedication and reliability defined him both on and off the road.

When he wasn’t driving, Bob could often be found riding his Harley-Davidson, taking pride in his membership with the Guardians M.C. He enjoyed caring for his lawn, working on cars, and spending time with his dogs—especially his loyal companion, Maddie.

Bob is survived by his daughters, Sandra (Gary) Beckwith and Renee Barnard; his niece, Rhonda (Donny) Martin, whom he loved like a daughter; his grandchildren, Austin (Kristina), Alison, Ayden, Brady, and Karly; his brother, David Barnard; and his faithful dog, Maddie. Bob was proud of his family and he loved them all very much.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Robert “Bobby” Barnard, who passed away on April 7, 2021; his loving companion, Tami Barnard, who passed away on March 23, 2024; his sisters, Faye Apple and Rosemary Ross; and his brothers, Richard and Charles.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at the Mausoleum Chapel of Greenlawn Memory Gardens in North Kingsville. The family will receive guests from 10:00 to 10:30 a.m., with the funeral service beginning at 10:30 a.m., followed by military honors.
