Richard “Rick” Nesbitt, Sr., passed away peacefully on July 13, 2026, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving family, following a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Youngstown, Ohio, Rick was the son of Robert and Mabel (Widdersheim) Nesbitt. He graduated from South Range High School in North Lima in 1983 and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Youngstown State University. Rick built a distinguished career as an electrical engineer, where his intelligence, precision, and problem-solving ability set him apart. He took great pride in his work and dedicated over 15 years to Meadville Forge, earning the respect of colleagues through both his technical expertise and strong work ethic.
On January 16, 2016, Rick married Pamela K. Newlun, his loving and devoted wife. Their marriage was one of deep companionship, built on friendship, loyalty, and unwavering love. Together, they created a life centered on family, support, and shared joy.
Rick was an accomplished and passionate hunter who found peace and fulfillment in the outdoors. Whether pursuing deer or turkey, he approached hunting with skill, patience, and respect for the tradition. Some of his most cherished moments were spent in the woods alongside family and friends. He also took pride in preparing meals from his harvest, bringing his love of the outdoors full circle as an excellent cook. To Rick, these experiences were not just hobbies, but meaningful expressions of a life well-lived.
Above all, Rick’s greatest devotion was to his family. He treasured every moment spent with them and was a steady, loving presence in their lives. His legacy is one of hard work, deep love, and unwavering dedication to those he held closest.
Rick is survived by his beloved wife, Pamela; his only biological child, his son, Richard “Ricky” (Kim) Nesbitt, Jr.; his stepchildren, that he loved as if they were his own, Bradley (Desiree) Blankenship, Nicholas (Ami) Enos, Tonja Druktenis, and Ben Blankenship; his grandchildren, January, Justin, Kiarra, Brianna, Marcus, Blaze, Kay Lynn, Michael, Benny, Ellyanna, Maliyah, and Ace; his great-grandchildren, Rosalee, Silas, and Armani; and his brothers, Mark (Kim) Nesbitt and Bob (Michelle) Nesbitt.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepsons, Jerry “JR” Blankenship and Thomas “Tommy” Carroll II; and his former wife, Janice.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at Czup Funeral Home, 1329 Lake Avenue, Ashtabula. Calling hours will take place from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., with the funeral service beginning at 6:00 p.m., officiated by Pastor Kenny Roberts.
