Palmina Benedict
ASHTABULA- Palmina Benedict, 96, passed away peacefully October 15, 2019 at UH Geauga Medical Center.
She was born in Ashtabula on October 17, 1922. The daughter of Nick and Lucy (Long) Ray.
Palmina worked for over 45 years for the City of Ashtabula, for many years as the secretary to the City Manager. She ended her career as the manager of the Ashtabula City Employee's Credit Union.
She was a devoted and active member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. Palmina was a proud, loving and hard working mother. Her true happiness came from her grandchildren whom she cherished.
She is survived by her children Gary "Mousey" (Linda) Benedict and Lou Ann (Bill) Marx; her grandchildren: Ron Chambers, Rick (Ann) Chambers, Ryan (Stacy) Chambers, Brook Benedict, Octavia Benedict and Rae Ann Benedict; great grandchildren: Ronny, John, Austin, Aiden and Malacha; and her daughter-in-law Cecelia Benedict.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, her husband Otto, her son Charles "Chuck" Benedict in 2000 and her sister Ann Palmerezzi-Green.
Calling hours will be held on Friday evening from 5-7pm at Czup Funeral Home, 1329 Lake Avenue, Ashtabula. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to St. John High School.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Peace.-Mt. Carmel Church, 1220 E. 21st Street, Ashtabula. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Ashtabula.
