Norma Waugh was born August 18, 1943, in Cleveland Ohio. She was born to the union of Charles Dukes Jr. and Ruth Harris.
At a young age, Norma married Herbert Waugh Sr., and Herbert Jr. and Robert Waugh were born to this union. Norma later married Aaron Cockrell who has fallen asleep in death.
Norma was affectionately known as “Auntie Norma” and “Mama Waugh” in the Warrensville Hts./Westwood neighborhood. She loved cooking, and many family members would often stop by for a plate.
Norma grew up in Cleveland and received her high school diploma from East High School. Norma would go on to work as a bookkeeper and administrative assistant for National City Bank, Tenna Corporation, and the Cuyahoga County Commissioner’s office. In retirement, she would go on to provide childcare for several families in the greater Cleveland area. Norma enjoyed playing scrabble, cards, and bingo. She also enjoyed trips to the casino. Norma was a die-hard fan of the Browns and Cavs.
She was preceded in death by her siblings Bobbie Whitley, Cornelia Jackson and Charles Dukes III
Norma is survived by her sons and their wives Herbert Waugh (Lori) and Robert Waugh (Donya), sister; Nichole Sims; brother-in-law; Joe Jackson; Grandsons: Brandon Waugh, Brevin Waugh, Robbie Waugh, Dylon Waugh, and Davenport Waugh. Niece; Rhonda Hooks and Nephews Richard Hooks, Justin Hooks, Jerome Hooks and Erick Scott.
She leaves to mourn a number of family and friends which includes cousins, and a host of other family members. She also leaves to mourn a long-time friend which she calls her oldest friend Janice Hayes.
A memorial service will be held on Friday September 13, 2024, at the Mediterranean Event Center, 25021 Rockside Road, Bedford Hts, Ohio. The family will receive guests from 12:20-1:00 with her memorial service starting at 1:00p.m. Repass will directly follow the services at the event center. Flowers can be sent directly to the event center on Friday morning.
