ASHTABULA-Nancy Jean Mampel, 74, passed away on December 15, 2024, at Regency Medical Center in Warrensville Hts., Ohio.
She was born in Painesville, Ohio on August 26, 1950, the daughter of Lynn and Emma (Barnum) Butte.
Education was always important to Nancy; following her graduation from Geneva High School in 1968 she went on to receiver her undergraduate degree from San Diego State University and then on to Southern Illinois University to receive her master’s degree.
Nancy was a caregiver for most of her life.  She took a great deal of pride in the care she provided, and she had the most tender and loving heart that made her just perfect for that role.  She was also a licensed auctioneer and estate liquidator.
To say that Nancy enjoyed shopping would be an understatement, she also loved antiques and going to garage sales.  She thoroughly enjoyed watching Hallmark Movies, especially the Christmas ones.  She was so very proud of her entire family; her children, grandchildren and siblings were her the true source of her happiness.  She will be missed dearly.
She is survived by her loving family; her children: Monique (Kevin) Earley, Bernadette (Brandon) Price and Patrick Wichman; her grandchildren: Nicolette (Christian) Dierberger, Brett (Mikayla), Keagan, and Ian; great-grandchildren: Easton and Sophia; and her siblings: Jo Ann Jones, Lynn (Cathy) Butte, Jr., Judy (Ted) Fronk, Bonnie Aponte, Sharon (Roy) Tereba, Betty Hernandez, and sister-in-law Jeanine Butte.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Roy Mampel, as well as her brothers Garry Butte, Sr. and Robert Butte.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday December 21, 2024 at Saybrook United Methodist Church in the fellowship hall.  The family will greet guests from 10:00-11:00 and at 11:00 services to celebrate her life will begin.  A luncheon in her honor will follow
