Michael Charles Perry, 72, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2024, surrounded by his loving family at his home in Ashtabula, Ohio.
He was born on June 9, 1952, in Meadville, Pennsylvania; the son of the late Charles E. and Joyce (Gartner) Perry.
Michael graduated from St. John High School in 1970.
On February 13, 1982, Michael married his beautiful bride, Carol Purola, they were blessed to share forty-two wonderful years of marriage together full of love, friendship and most importantly family.
In 1976, Michael founded Perry’s Automotive in Ashtabula, he owned and operated the business until his retirement in 2018. Mike always treated his customers like family; his honesty, integrity and his kind heart along with the fact that he was a really great mechanic will never be forgotten.
Michael enjoyed playing softball on the Crow’s Nest and Spot Café teams. He was a loyal fan of the Cleveland Browns, Cavs, Indians, and OSU Buckeyes. He also enjoyed golfing, bowling and watching NASCAR especially when Tony Stewart was racing. Michael was a three-time champion of the “Perry Fantasy Football League”. However, his true source of happiness and joy came from being “Papa” to his many grandchildren and great-grandchild.
Michael is survived by his loving wife, Carol A Perry; his beloved children: Tonya (Clinton) Cook, Steve (Mai-Linh) Hanek, Rhonda (Bob) Appleton, Samantha Sharpe (Derek Roberts), Amanda (Mitch) Mucci and Todd (Brittnay) Perry; his siblings: Chris (Michel) Sadie, Pat (Jo) Perry, Steve (Felicia) Perry, Joe (Patty) Perry, Margaret Lukkarila, Ed (Lisa) Perry, Liz Campbell and Kathy (Kevin) Koski; his grandchildren: Andrew (Tiffany) Moss, Bobby (Nicole) Appleton, Joshua (Gretchen) Perry, Alexis Collins, Izabella Hanek, Tori Cook, Harmony Sharpe, Lauren Hanek, Lilly Perry, Noah Sharpe, Michael Hanek, Elijah Perry, Chandler Mucci, Charlie Mucci, Mia Perry, his great-grandson, Harvey Moss, and his aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, John (Joann Rowley) Perry and Robert Perry and his sons-in-law, Joseph Sharpe and Michael Collins.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2024, from 10:00a-11:30a with a funeral mass to follow at 11:30a at Mount Carmel Church, 1200 East 21st Street in Ashtabula, Ohio. A private family burial will take place at Edgewood Cemetery.
