CONNEAUT – Melissa Jo Shetler, 52, passed away unexpectedly on November 8, 2024, as a result of a pulmonary embolism due to a clotting disorder in her legs (DVT’s) that she was recently diagnosed with.
She was born in Conneaut, Ohio on February 24, 1972, the daughter of Linda (Sauerwine) Shuster and John “Jack” Betteys.
Melissa was a member of the Conneaut High School Class of 1991 and worked in the nursing field for many years providing care primarily to the elderly.
Melissa enjoyed cooking and swimming, and when her children made her a grandma her life took on a whole new meaning.  Her grandkids called her “Gaga” and she absolutely adored them.  She and her youngest Emma became “besties” and playing with Barbies was one of their favorite things to do.  She loved life and she will be missed dearly by her family and close friends.  
She is survived by her loving family; her parents Linda (Raymond) Shuster, with whom she made her home, and Jack Betteys; her children: Kaela Lyons, Raymond Shetler and Robert Shetler; and her grandkids: Emma, Layla, Miley, Raymond, and Daniel.
She was preceded in death by her sisters Kimberly Dottore and Darcy Bates.
In honor of her wishes no public funeral services will be held.
