Luis Castrillon

Luis Carlos Castrillon, 26, sadly passed away on October 26, 2020 at University Hospital Cleveland Medical Center from complications of pancreatitis. He was born in Queens, New York on June 10, 1994, the loving son of Luis and Maria (Medina) Castrillon.

Luis was a 2013 graduate of Lakeside High School in Ashtabula and the A-Tech Public Safety Program.  At A-Tech he served as class President and very proudly and successfully represented his school at Regional and State vocational competitions. He started his career in public safety and law enforcement with the Plymouth Volunteer Fire Department. He then went on to the Lake Erie Correctional Institution where he worked for 5 years and reached the rank of Sargent.  At the time of his passing he was a Corrections Officer at the Lake County jail.  Luis truly enjoyed his career in law enforcement and treated the inmates with the utmost respect at all times.  He was good to everyone he met in life.

Luis had a laugh everyone knew and loved.  He enjoyed basketball, soccer, his PlayStation and watching movies (with his two all time favorites being Home Alone and Titanic).  For Luis, he was raised to put his family first and that is how he lived his life.

He is survived by his loving parents Luis and Maria; his fiancee and the 'love of his life' Omisha N. Sandella; his daughter Myla, that he absolutely adored and who completely stole his heart; his loving sister and always supportive sister Yadira (Ricardo) Espada and his soon to be mother-in-law Michelle Sandella who loved Luis like he was her own son.

Just as Luis was always helpful and generous to anyone in need during his life, he continued to help others even after death by being a organ donor.

Funeral services will be held on Friday October 30, 2020 at the Pentacostal Tabernacle Church, 4438 Main Ave Ashtabula, OH - Calling hours will be held from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. with the funeral service starting at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Jayson Hernandez conducting the services.  Burial will follow at the Saybrook Township Cemetery.  Masks must be worn at the church and proper social distancing is encouraged.
