ASHTABULA - Linda A. Downing, 70, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer; surrounded by her family on October 4, 2019 at the David Simpson Hospice House in Cleveland.
She was born in DuBois, Pennsylvania on July 2, 1949 the daughter of Terry and Patricia (McClure) Sharkey.
Linda was first and foremost a proud and well loved wife and mother.  She was most proud to have become a loving and caring Nana.  She passed down her love of celebrating and continuing family traditions to her children and grandchildren.
She will be missed by her husband, Richard L. Downing; three children: Stacey (Scott) Piper, Tammy Downing and Scott (Kaitlin Grennan) Downing; her grandchildren: Alex Piper, Addyson Piper and Colt Downing; her siblings: Michael (Joy) Sharkey, Karen (Carter) Lee, Bob (Karen) Sharkey and Debbie (Dave) Welton and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday October 8, from 4:00-7:00 at Czup Funeral Home, 1329 Lake Avenue Ashtabula, funeral services will begin at 7:00 p.m. following the visitation at the funeral home/
Final burial will be a private family gathering. Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve in her honor.
