Ashtabula - Kathy Lynn McIver, 66, passed away peacefully, yet unexpectedly at home, in her sleep Saturday March 15, 2025.
Kathy was born in Ashtabula Ohio on April 22, 1958, the daughter of Lloyd Robert and Betty Jane (Wright) Steed.
She was a graduate of Ashtabula High School’s Class of 1976. She went on to further her education at Kent State University. Kathy was a licensed dispensing optician who worked for over 10 years for Shawnee Optical and Sears Optical Department before that. She loved the people that she worked with and the patients she served.
On August 6, 1979, Kathy married Daniel McIver. While they were blessed with 24 years together and two sons, Daniel passed away at a very young age in 2003.
Kathy loved gardening, interior decorating, and crafting; and when she went to work or got dressed for a nice occasion, she loved to accessorize the outfit with one of her dozens of decorative watches.
Kathy loved being a mom. She worked very hard to provide for her sons as a single mom after her husband’s passing. But 3 years ago, she was blessed with a new title - “Nana” and her life took on a whole new meaning. While she had many dear friends and was very close with her siblings, her little granddaughter became her favorite person in the world.
She was survived by her loving family; Her son Jesse (Anicia) McIver; her granddaughter Genevieve “Evie” McIver; her siblings: Shirley (James) Carraher, Paula Steed, Karen Shelton, Darcy Steed, and Kevin (Clarissa) Steed; As well as many dear nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Daniel in 2003, her son Daniel in 2023, her brother James in 2019, her sister Tracy in infancy, and her brother-in-law Ron Shelton in 2021.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at Czup Funeral Home, 1329 Lake Avenue, Ashtabula: Calling hours will be held from 5:00-7:00; funeral service will begin at 7:15 with Rev. Vern Palo officiating. A private burial will take place on Thursday at Ridgeview Cemetery.
