Karen Anderson Obituary

North Kingsville — Karen Lee (Johns) Anderson, 78, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on April 7, 2026, at Ashtabula Regional Medical Center’s ICU, following a long illness.  She passed with her family right by her side and was blessed with countless visitors who lovingly came to say their final goodbyes.

Born on October 11, 1947, in Ashtabula, she was the loving daughter of Edward and Roberta (Battles) Johns. A proud 1965 graduate of Ashtabula High School, Karen went on to build a life centered around faith, family, and service to others.

On May 3, 1969, she married her one true love, Edward A. Anderson. Their marriage of 52 beautiful years was filled with laughter, devotion, and a deep abiding faith in God. Together they raised two beloved daughters who blessed them with five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Karen’s happiest moments were those spent surrounded by her family — attending her grandchildren’s activities, celebrating milestones, or simply sharing quiet moments together. Her family meant everything to her, and she prayed for them faithfully every day.

She was an extremely hard worker; she worked for 15 years at the A & P in Ashtabula, followed by 14 years working for the Ashtabula Co. Educational Service Center as an aid for special needs students, and then worked for Dr. Seeds Orthopedics as the office receptionist for 22 years until her retirement in 2020.

Karen was a dedicated member of Family Alliance Church, where her servant’s heart shone brightly. She served as a deaconess and in the children’s ministry, finding great joy in caring for others, visiting church members, and sharing God’s Word. She was a woman of prayer and gentle strength, known for her kindness, grace, and unshakable faith. Karen’s life was a living testimony to her love for Jesus and her desire to make sure others knew of His unconditional love.

She also found companionship in her beloved dog, Buddy, and warmth in the friendships she built throughout her life. Those who knew her will always remember her for her tender heart, devotion to her Savior, and her unwavering love for her family.

Karen is survived by her daughters, Amanda (Jeffrey) Hinkle and Jennifer (Michael) Drake; her cherished grandchildren, Katelyn (Ben) Hubler, Kristen (Robert Sapp) Drake, Sara Drake, Clayton Hinkle, and Sam Hinkle; her precious great-granddaughter, Sadie Hubler; and her siblings, Barbara Johns, Ed “Craig” (Judy) Johns, and Glynis (Lew Anderson) Spencer.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband, Edward, on August 23, 2022.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 11, at Family Alliance Church, 3137 East Center St., North Kingsville, with calling hours from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and the service beginning at 1:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made in Karen’s name to Family Alliance Church.
