Joyce Marie (Waring) Jarvela

Joyce Marie Jarvela, 59, passed away unexpectedly at her home on December 6, 2005 following a brief illness. She was born on August 26, 1966 in Ashtabula, the daughter of Rodger and Joanne (Morsack) Waring,

Joyce was a 1984 graduate of Harbor High School and she went onto Kent State University to further her education. For over 20 years, she worked at the Ashtabula Area City School system As Classroom Para-Pro.  She loved her job the children she worked with and all of her coworkers.

On Valentine’s Day, February 14, 1998 she married Jeffrey Jarvela and together they were blessed with a marriage filled with love and laughter until Jeff’s passing in 2020.  

Joyce was an avid reader and she loved keeping up with world news and US politics. She loved and collected cardinals, owls, Gnomes, lighthouses and sunflowers.  She had a strong Christian faith and was a member of Gateway Church.

Her greatest love and single greatest source of pride and happiness came from her children and grandchildren. She truly lived every day for all of them.

She has survived by her children: Kelly (John Zorkocy) Mayle, Heather Mayle, Matthew (Amber) Mayle, and Joseph (Tristan’s) Jarvela; Her grandchildren: Christian, Emilee, Ashton, Maxxus and Lyliah; And her brother Michael Waring.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jeffrey, and her brother Rodger Waring.

Celebration of life service will be held in the spring or summer of 2026.
