Jimmie Laughlin
JEFFERSON - Jimmie Duane Laughlin, 68, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2025, at U.H. Lake West Medical Center, Willoughby, Ohio.
He was born on May 26, 1956, in Ashtabula, Ohio, the son of Robert and Helen (Hammond) Laughlin.
Jimmie was a member of the Ashtabula High School Class of 1974, where he excelled at several sports. Sports remained a huge part of Jimmie’s life. He was a member of the Cleveland Competitors Professional Softball Team for many years. It was part of the American Professional Slo-Pitch Softball League; the team was owned by the former Cleveland Cavaliers owner Ted Stepien. Locally he played on many great teams including the Spot Café and the Gallery to name a few.
He was a very hard worker and was a past member of the Laborers Union #310, working for many years for Baker Construction and Short Concrete Company.
Jimmie loved his family with all his heart, and he was a friend to so many. He was the kind of friend that was always just a phone call away and would do anything you asked of him. The thing that gave Jimmie the most happiness in life were his grandkids, being a grandpa to Olivia and Caleb. He absolutely loved and adored those kids.
He is survived by his loving family; his son Jamie DeCamillo; his grandchildren Olivia and Caleb; his siblings: Linda (Dennis) Mell, Patti (Don) Fassett, Renee (Rusty) Boomhower and Robin (Robert) Wight; Leah Bentley, his grandchildren’s mother that he loved like a daughter; as well as many nieces and nephews that he was very close to.
He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Helen.
FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD ON SATURDAY APRIL 19, 2025 at FLEMING-BILLMAN FUNERAL HOME, 526 W. PROSPECT RD. ASHTABULA, Calling hours will be held from 10:00-12:00 and his memorial service will start at 12:00 pm.
