Gary Lee Smith

DORSET- Gary L. Smith, 69, passed away April 13, 2020.

He was born in Ashtabula on October 24, 1952 the son of James and Joyce (Gochneaur) Smith.

Gary graduated from Jefferson High School in 1971 and went on to college to receive his degree in Computer Science.

On April 2, 1983 Gary married Joyce E. Huey, his loving and devoted wife of the past 37 years.

Gary's last job prior to retirement was working as a caregiver for Brighter Horizons. He was also a U.S. Merchant Marines in his younger years.  He enjoyed wood working, he was a hobby farmer and he played many musical instruments.  He was also a member of the Dorset Baptist Church.

He was a proud and loving husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his loving family: his wife Joyce; his son Benjamin (Leah) Smith; his daughter Lydia (Stuart) Miller; his granddaughters whom he adored: McKayla Miller and Evangeline Smith; and his brothers: Steven (Kathy)Smith, Ted Smith and Christopher (Tammy) Smith.

In honor of Gary's wishes no public services will be held.
