Gary Edward LaPlante, 67, Passed away peacefully at home on December 21, 2024.
He was born in Cleveland, Ohio on June 28, 1957, the son of Edward and Agnes (Panagopoulos) LaPlante.
Gary graduated from Cleveland South High School and then from 1979 to 1983 he very proudly served his country in the United States Army.
He worked for the Ashtabula County Medical Center in the kitchen for the dietary department for many years. He also worked for the Ashtabula Star Beacon as a carrier for nine years, a job he thoroughly enjoyed because of the relationships he built with his customers.
Gary loved sports and music; he was an avid Cleveland sports fan of the Browns, Indians, and Cavaliers. When it came to music, he loved everything from Elvis Presley to Eminem. Gary’s greatest love was for his family; he was very close with his siblings, and since he never had children of his own, he loved his nieces and nephews with all his heart.
He survived by his siblings: Becky (Chris) Cieplinski, Robert McLaughlin, Tony (Mary Jo) McLaughlin, and Jack (Ranada) McLaughlin; as well as his nieces and nephews: Missy, Crystal, Dawn, Anthony, Japeth, Kami, Aaron, Melani, Tony, and Gracey Jo.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral service with military honors will be held on Monday, February 3, 2025 at 1:15 PM at the Ohio Western reserve national Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Rd., Seville, Ohio.
