Gail Vance, age 74, of Cortland, Ohio passed away peacefully on November 11, 2025 after a long
Illness. She was the daughter of the late Agnes and Adelbert French and is survived by her siblings; Lisa
French of New York, New York, Eric French of Cortland, Ohio, Cecelia French of Seymour,
Connecticut, David French of Cleveland, Ohio and Kathleen French of Florham Park, New Jersey.
She was a wonderful big sister to her younger sister, Lisa, and brother Eric.
For over 37 years, Gail worked for the Sprint telephone company. She was a smart and dedicated
employee and supervisor at a time when women were just beginning to work as managers in business
and handled the accompanying challenges with dignity and professionalism.
Gail constantly created beautiful things with her many crafts. She loved collectibles and decorated her
home for every holiday. She was an incredibly kind and loving mom to many cat “kids” and would care
for any homeless kitties who had the good fortune to come to her door.
Gail’s second family were the aides who helped her stay in her home and provided her with loving care
over the past 8 years. These wonderful women included Gleama, Dyan, Teri, Kim, Cassidy, Leah, Siera,
and many others who were kind and thoughtful and made some tough times easier, and often fun.
One of Gail’s aides said on her passing, “She is dancing in heaven.” We know that is true. She was
gentle, funny and loving and will be greatly missed. We thank everyone who helped make her life a
good one.
There will be a private cremation. Friends and loved ones are encouraged to remember Gail in
their own special moments. Contributions in her memory can be made to the Animal Welfare
League of Trumbull County. (www.awlrescueme.com)
