Frieda A. Casievich

ASHTABULA - Frieda Anne Casievich, 87, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2025 with her children and grandson right by her side.

She was born on July 12, 1937, in Ashtabula, Ohio the daughter of Frederick and Nellie (Lewis) Brunell.

Frieda Graduated from Harbor High School in 1955.  All throughout the 1950s she worked for Grant’s Department Store. On December 27, 1958 she married Joseph Casievich, her loving and devoted husband of 63 years. She took great pride in taking care of her family and home.

Freida enjoyed planting her flower gardens and vegetable gardens every year.  She also enjoyed cooking, baking and canning.  For many years she was a breeder of AKC Beagle Puppies, which was more of a passion than a job.  She was a proud and loving mother and grandmother, and she always put her family first.

She survived by her children: her daughter, Diana (Jon Phillips) Casievich and her son Michael (Crystal) Casievich; her grandson Devan Bassin, that she absolutely adored; and her brother, Tom (Gloria) Brunell.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Joseph, who passed away on December 31, 2021.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 12 at Czup Funeral Home, 1329 Lake Ave., Ashtabula, OH. Calling hours will be held from 10 AM to 11 AM with her funeral service beginning at 11:00, Donna Cuputo, Chaplin for Hospice of the Western Reserve will be the celebrant at the service. Freida will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Memory Gardens in North Kingsville following the funeral service.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve or Ashtabula County Animal Protective League.

Freida’s family would like to thank the staff members at the Ashtabula County Nursing Home, Hospice of the Western Reserve and ARMC Home Health for the kindness and compassion they showed us and our mother while she was in their care.
