Douglas Loyd Obituary

Douglas Hobart Loyd, 67, passed away on August 27, 2024, at the Ashtabula Regional Medical Center in Ashtabula, Ohio.

He was born on August 15, 1957, in Ashtabula, Ohio, the son of Hobart and Corinne (Hiltz) Loyd.

Douglas was a 1975 graduate of Edgewood High School and later in life attended Kent State University where he received his RAD Tech degree.

He worked for RMI and then for Mohawk until he retired in 2020. He also owned Starlite Video in Girard, PA.

Douglas had a passion for gardening and keeping a beautiful lawn at his home, he made the most delicious fresh salsa using his own homegrown vegetables. He loved golfing and supporting his favorite teams, the Ohio State Buckeyes, the Cleveland Indians, Browns and Cavaliers. He found true joy and happiness in spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving children: Jerime (Rebecca) Loyd, Jessica (Matthew) Lopez, Cody Loyd (Sharisse Hunt) and Aaron (Hailey) Loyd; his stepdaughter, Brigett (Kuvik) Anderson; his grandchildren: Kirsten, Andrew, Preston, Landon and Ashton; his siblings: Nancy (Patrick) Huffman, Joanne (Harry) Knapp and Cindy (Mike) Luc and his companion, Sonja (Kuvik) Loyd.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Jackie Lehto.

A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, September 6, 2024, at 12:00p at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in North Kingsville, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a monetary donation be made to Greenlawn for funeral arrangements.
