Darryl Dean Ruth, Sr., passed from this life into the arms of his Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, April 11, 2020.
Darryl was born October 25, 1955, to Jimmie Sr. and Dolessa (Stegall) Ruth in Ashtabula, Ohio. He was a graduate of Ashtabula High School. He spent most of his adult life in Florida until he moved to Oklahoma in 2009. He was most recently employed as a truck driver, and could operate just about any piece of heavy equipment made. He was very talented in so many ways.
In 2018, he relocated back to Ashtabula County to be near his father. It was here that he renewed his relationship with Jesus and began attending church regularly. He was a blessing to many, always ready to lend a helping hand wherever he could. He loved to go fishing, and even more to eat it, especially Lake Erie Perch and Walleye! He loved to plant a garden and watch it grow. He was so proud of the harvest. He loved his children beyond measure and the distance between them was very small compared to the love in his heart. Darryl was a huge sports fan, with a special fondness for the Cleveland Browns and Cavaliers, and the Ohio State Buckeyes. He married his wife, Sara (Irvin), on April 19, 2016 in Lawton, Oklahoma. He was a member of New Hope Pentecostal Church in Ashtabula.
He is survived by his wife, Sara; his children Darryl (Iramecca) Ruth Jr, Tashada (Charles) Johnson, Joel Ruth, Riyadah Ruth, Laquela Ruth, Camille Norton, and Juan Norton; 21 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, all of Florida; his father Jimmie Ruth, Sr., and step-mother June, of Jefferson, Ohio; brothers Jimmie Jr. (Patrice), of Atlanta, Randy (Darla) of Oklahoma, and Nathan of Atlanta; step-sister Darla (John) Helfer of Jefferson, step-children Maurice (Amy) Irvin of New York, Patricia (Louis) Irvin-Smith of Donora, OH, Charles Irvin of Reading, PA, Robert Atkinson of Waynesboro, OH, and Johnnie Atkinson of Pittsburgh, PA; 22 step-grandchildren and three step-great grandchildren; his former wife, Linda, of Florida, and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Dolessa, in 2002.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, no public services are being planned at this time. Czup Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North Kingsville.
