Darlene Jones

COLUMBUS/ASHTABULA - Darlene Jones, 59, passed away peacefully at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center on Friday September 12th 2025 at 8:43 p.m.

Darlene was born in Ashtabula, Ohio on June 25th 1966, to parents of L.C "Frog" and Mary (Young) Mathers.

She graduated from Ashtabula High School. She worked hard all her life in retail sales to take care of her children. She enjoyed listening to R&B music, decorating her home, spending time with family in her parent’s basement and at family cookouts. Most of all she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Darlene became ill at a very young age and she had been fighting for a very long time. She didn’t go to church as often as she should have but she had her own personal relationship with the Lord; and now she is finally at peace. 

Darlene’s memory will be cherished by her loving children: Natoya (Chris) Garnes, Demar Ezell, and Arthur Ezell Jr. Also her bonus daughter Mahrya Payne; her 13 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, that she absolutely adored and her siblings: Ann Keyes, Sharon  (Billy “Bubbles”) Butler, Tonya (Nelson) Nnamani  & Adrian (Brandi) Mathers, Daric (Kim) Young  & Kathy (Merle) Betts; Darlene also had many Aunts, Uncles, and cousins that loved her dearly. 

Darlene is proceeded in death by her father L.C "Frog" Mathers and her sister Kathy Betts 

Funeral services will be held on Saturday September 20, 2025 at the Greater Miracle Temple Church of God in Christ Church, 319 Lake Avenue, Ashtabula. Calling hours will be from 11:00-12:00 with her funeral services starting at 12:00; Bishop Mitchell L. Jones will be leading the services for Darlene.
