Cindy Sue Lanning

Cindy Sue Lanning, 47, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her own home on July 3, 2025.

She was born on September 25, 1977, in Killeen, Texas, the daughter of Gary and Mary (Tryon) Gower.

On July 4, 2005, Cindy married the love of her life, Charlie H. Lanning, and they shared 22 wonderful years together.

Cindy worked as an assistant manager at Shell – True North Gas Station in Conneaut, Ohio, and in the past at Love’s Truck Stop and Truck World and many other places. She loved spending time outdoors—fishing, camping, playing games on her phone—as well as board and card games with family, and especially enjoyed riding on the back of Charlie’s motorcycle; they spent countless hours riding together on his Harley.

She is survived by her husband, Charlie Lanning; her parents, Gary and Mary Gower; her children: Nicholas Strader and Julie Strader; her stepchildren: Sunshine (Steven) Brueggman, CJ Lanning, and Brandon (Steven) Lanning; her brother, Gary Gower Jr.; nine grandchildren; stepsister, Debbie; stepbrother, Brian; stepmom, Barb; great-aunt, Laura Ruland; aunts Carol Tryon and Donna; and many cousins, extended family members, and friends who loved her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents.

Services to celebrate her life were held on Saturday, July 26, 2025, from 1:00–4:00 p.m. at the West Avenue Church of Christ, 5901 West Avenue, Ashtabula.
