Monroe Township – Betty J. Whitford, 89, passed away in the early hours of Saturday April 6, 2024, in her home with her husband of almost 72 years by her side.
She was born in Ripley, NY on September 17, 1934, the daughter of Norman and Edna (Foster) Corbin.
Betty graduated from East High School in Erie, PA in 1952 and on May 29 of that same year she married Glenn L. Whitford.
Betty and Glenn were blessed with 5 children, 25 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Betty was fortunate to be able to be a stay-at-home mom. She centered her life around her loving family and always felt so very thankful to be blessed with the family God gave her.
She was a member of the Federated Church of Springfield and in her free time she enjoyed reading, singing, cooking, baking, and watching her grandchildren grow up.
She is survived by her loving family: her husband, Glenn; her children: Christine (Bert) Copple, Pamela (Glenn) Moon, Cheryl Henry, and Laurel (David) Ring; her daughter-in-law Mary Whitford; her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and her brother, Harry (Norma Jean) Corbin.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Phillip in 2014; her granddaughter, Lydia Ring in 2021, and her son-in-law, Donnie Henry.
Graveside funeral services will be held on Saturday April 13, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. at Monroe Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in her name to Orwell Bible Church.
