Sandra (Sandy) Marie (Lynn) Jewell, 68, passed away peacefully on February 2nd, 2023, in Ashtabula, Ohio.
She was born on October 20th, 1954, in Warren, Ohio, the daughter of Richard T. and Flossie M. (Baugher) Lynn.
Sandy graduated from Champion High School in Champion, Ohio in 1973. She went on to attend the Trumbull Memorial School of Nursing where she received her nursing degree, RN-CPN.
On May 17th, 1980, Sandy married the love of her life, Dean H. Jewell Jr., they shared forty-two wonderful years of marriage together.
She worked as a nurse for Trumbull Memorial Hospital for thirty-five years where she spent thirty of those years in Pediatrics. She also worked as a telephone Triage Nurse for the Cleveland Clinic, she was a nurse for the GM Lordstown Plant, served as a Trumbull Community Outreach Nurse and was the plant nurse for Vallourec Steel.
Sandy was a devoted member of St. James Church in Warren, Ohio, St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church in Cape Coral, Florida, and Our Lady of Peace Church in Ashtabula, Ohio. She was also an active member of the Redbrook Boat Club and the Ashtabula Elks.
She enjoyed college football, she was a fan of Youngstown State University football where both of her son’s played and a member of the Harding Gridiron Club. She enjoyed going to the beach, boating, fishing, and spending time at their Saybrook (Erieview) Cottage on Lake Erie. Sandy was a delegate for the Democratic Party during Bill Clinton’s Administration.
Sandy is survived by her loving husband, Dean H. Jewell; her beloved children: Dean J. Jewell, Jr. and Ryan (Tisha) Jewell of Hampstead, NC; her grandchildren: Madeline, Ethan, Brennan and Maricel and her brother, Tom (Patty) Lynn and her sisters in law Cecilia (Dale) Janus and Grace (Robert) Bacot.
She is preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law, John Jewell.
In keeping with Sandy’s wishes, the Jewell family will have a celebration of life gathering followed by a sunset toast at Redbrook Boat Club in Ashtabula on Saturday, May 20th, 2023.
