Robert “Bob” H. Nick, 67, passed away after battling COVID December 24, 2021 at University Hospitals Geneva Medical Center.
Bob was born on April 30, 1954, at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois, the son of William and Mary Jane (Hetrick) Nick.
Bob married Brenda J. Friedrich on July 31, 1976, and they shared forty-five wonderful years of marriage.
Bob graduated from Mentor High School, and received a Bachelor’s degree from Kent State University. He worked for the Orwell Printing Company, and KMI Printing.
Bob was an avid member of the Neohio Region of the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA), and served as a Trustee for the region. He races cars at Nelson Ledges Race Course and the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. He also did Timing and Scoring for SCCA, BMW Club, and the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix. He was a member of the Northern Ohio Chapter of the BMW Car Club of America, and Northern Ohio Porsche Club as well as a member of the Orion #353 and Relief #284 Masonic Lodges.
He is survived by his loving wife, Brenda J. Nick, his beloved son, Andrew F. (Tricia) Nick, his siblings: Susan Wolfson, William F. (Pamela) Nick and Mark A. (Laura) Nick, several nieces, nephew, and great nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his niece, Malerie Nick, a sister in infancy, and a brother-in-law, William Wolfson.
In keeping with Bob’s wishes, there be a memorial service Saturday, May 21, 2022, at Nelson Ledges Race Course, Garrettsville, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be in Bob’s name to the SCCA Foundation, P.O. Box 299, Topeka, KA 66619. Please include his wife’s name soshe can be notified of the gift.
