Michael Mascik, of Ashtabula, passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at his home.
Mike was born to Betty Swann Mascik and Duane Mascik on October 14, 1960, in Maryland.
Mike grew up in Ashtabula and started his family at an early age. He married Marleen Quillen on September 25, 1982, and the couple lived in their harbor home from the beginning of their marriage until his death.
Mike was father to Dustin and Christen Mascik and Danette (Liam) McCormick.
As a young dad, Mike enjoyed coaching his son’s little league baseball team at Cedarquist park. He was always out playing ball in the street with the neighborhood kids. He enjoyed Friday night football games and never missed a halftime show when his daughter was a Harbor High School majorette.
Mike worked at Grand River Rubber for over 40 years. During his time there he made many close friends and served as president of USW local 1020 for several years.
Those who were close to Mike will miss his wonderful sense of humor. He was a man of few words but could always make you laugh. Mike was a Cleveland Browns and Indians fan his whole life. He was the chef of the family and made wonderful family meals for the holidays. He enjoyed gardening, golfing listening to music in his man cave and sharing a laugh and a beer at the Young Men’s Club.
“Papa Mike” was very proud of his grandchildren: Autumn Brown, Brittany and Michael Mascik, Arianna Bailey, Sofia Raymond, and Saoirse and Tara McCormick. “Uncle Mike” also leaves behind his nieces who were very special to him Cara Swayze, Leslie Steinmetz, and Aimee and Stacy Navadauskas.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and his loving sister Linda Patterson.
His presence here on earth will be missed, and his family is grateful that he has been reunited with his loved ones in heaven.
