Lillian Fortner

January 30, 1930 — November 25, 2019

Lillian N. (Hughes) Fortner, 89, passed away peacefully November 25, 2019 at her home.

She was born in Cleveland, Ohio on January 30, 1930 the daughter of George and Mary (Goodwin) Hughes.

She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, word puzzles, reading the Bible, watching TV but most of all she enjoyed helping people.  Lillian had a heart of gold and her kind and caring nature led her to foster children.  She helped so many children over her 40 years as a foster parent and made a difference in all of their lives.

She is survived by her loving family: her son Larry; her grandchildren: Larry Fortner, Donovan Fortner, LaTasha Fortner, LeAnn Haynes, Ray Harris, Kelly Harris, Cynthia Brown and Edward Brown; 17 great-grandchildren; her siblings: Catherine Holman, Sherly Hughes, Mary Covington and Albert Hughes as well as man nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Carl Fortner, her siblings: Bernice, Judy, George, Donald and Essie Mae. and her daughter-in-law Lillie Harris-Fortner.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday December 7th at 11:00 a.m. at the New Hope Church of God, 4317 West Avenue.  Calling hours will be held one hour prior to the service from 10:00-11:00.  Burial will follow in Denmark Township Cemetery.
