Kathryn C. Baird, 82, passed away on December 2, 2020.
She was born on January 10, 1938 in Ashtabula, Ohio, the daughter of Edward and Marcena (Ryan) Wrisley.
She was a 1956 Harbor High School graduate. She loved children and worked with the children’s programs at the Harbor Topky Library, Happy Hearts, was a pre-school teacher at Ashtabula Co-op, and was on the board of the Ashtabula County BirthCare Inc.
She enjoyed life to the fullest . Volunteering her time and talents and helping others was how she lived her life; she was a teacher of the CCD classes at Mother of Sorrows Church; a Girl Scout leader for many years and the craft leader at Camp Unalia, she was known by her camp name “Casey” and the name followed her to the kids at the Harbor Topky Library, where she volunteered for many years. Some of her hobbies included reading (especially mystery novels), camping, and she learned to sew as a child-later making beautiful dresses and quilts for her granddaughters. She was a very talented musician, from singing in the church choir and playing the autoharp and dulcimer . Her family was her top priority and she always paid it forward to those she met. Her kindness and generosity will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her children: Anna (Rob) Reda, Scott (Carrie) Baird; her grandchildren: Elizabeth (Christopher) Mitchell, Erin Taylor (Brandon) Carpenter, Michael Baird and Vincent Reda; her great-grandchildren: Carter, Nathan and Ellie Lynn; and her siblings: Peggy Loyd and Terry Wrisley.
She is preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband of 61 years, Paul E. “Jack” Baird; her parents: Edward “Ted” and Margaret Marcena Wrisley; and her siblings: Michael Wrisley and Patricia Gaggiano.
Visitation will be held on Saturday December 19, 2020 from 11:00am – 12:00pm at Mother of Sorrows Church, 1464 W 6th St, Ashtabula, Oh. Mass of Christian burial will immediately follow at 12:00pm.
