Justin Calderone

November 6, 1980 — July 2, 2020

Justin Andrew Calderone, age 39, passed away unexpectedly on July 2, 2020 in Honolulu, Hawaii after an emergency MedVac while on deployment aboard the USS Roosevelt.

He was born in Duluth, Minnesota on November 6, 1980, the son of Alfred and Eileen (Tarczy)
Calderone he spent part of his childhood living at various military posts but moved to Ashtabula after his father’s military retirement in 1993.

Justin graduated in 1999 from Harbor High School in Ashtabula then continued his education
at DeVry Institute.

On December 24, 2002 Justin married Jennifer L. (Wilt) in Ashtabula, Ohio. Together they had three wonderful children: Nathan Alfred (16), Kailey Alexis (14) and Bryan David Calderone (8).

In January of 2003, he enlisted in the United States Navy. He was a VRC-30 Provider from 2006-2016. In 2016, he was promoted to Chief Petty Officer. At the time of his passing he held the position of Chief Aviation Electronics Technician with the Strike Fighter Squadron VFA 146 also known as the "Blue Diamonds" located at the Naval Air Station in Lemoore, California.  His personal awards include the Navy & Marine Corps Achievement Medal (5 awards), the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.

Justin had many interests and hobbies he enjoyed over the years, some of his favorites were; singing, he loved karaoke; he enjoyed playing the guitar (acoustic and bass), the ukulele and the harmonica; as well as taking rides on his motorcycle with his wife. He was extremely outgoing and loved to BBQ with his family and friends.  Justin lived every day for the love of his family.

He proudly served his country knowing what he was part of not only protected the freedoms and safety of his fellow Americans but his very own family as well.

Justin is survived by his loving family: his wife of 17 years, Jennifer L. (Wilt) Calderone; his children: Nathan Alfred, Kailey Alexis and Bryan David Caldrone; his mother: Eileen (Tarczy) Calderone; his siblings: Paul (Shelley) Calderone, Melissa (Nathan) Martin; and an abundance of Aunts, Uncles, cousins, brothers and sister-in laws as well as nieces and nephews.  Justin also leaves behind his Navy family - the men and women he served beside for 17 years who were his dearest friends that he loved like family.

He was proceeded in death by his father, Alfred J. Calderone, a retired U.S. Army Veteran; his grandparents, William P. and Elizabeth M. (Rannigan) Tarczy, and his grandparents, Alfred and Rose (Valerio) Calderone

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 24th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Czup Funeral Home, 1329 Lake Avenue, Ashtabula. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday July 25, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 1200 East 21st  Street, Ashtabula. Burial will immediately follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Ashtabula where full military honors will be observed and be provided by the US Navy.
