Joseph Walter Hite

Joseph Walter Hite, 88, passed away on May 3, 2023, at his home in Chesterland, Ohio.

He was born on September 29, 1934, in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of John Luther and Helen (McDonald) Hite, Sr.

Joseph married the love of his life, Sandra Lee Brown on December 22, 1975; they shared forty-seven wonderful years of marriage together.

Shortly after high school, he proudly served in the United States Army.

Joseph was a Firefighter for the City of Cleveland, after twenty-seven years of dedicated service he retired in 1988. He also owned and operated several bars, the Monticello and the Clark Avenue Bar. 

He was an avid fan of horse racing; over the years he owned several horses and was a member of Thistledown. Joseph also enjoyed cooking and politics; he was a proud conservative Republican.  Joseph was known for his witty, intellectual, humor; he found joy in making people laugh and putting a smile on their face.  Josephs family was extremely important to him as they were his true source of joy and happiness.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sandra; his beloved children: Michale “Shelly” Parker, Tracy (Chip) Soltesz, Raymond O’Brien, Melissa Turner and Catherine Hite; his seven grandchildren and his eight great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his son, Michael Hite and his siblings: Wanda Stefanko, Ramona Bales and John Hite.

In keeping with Joseph’s wishes, no services will be held.
