Jerry "Gary" Thomas Nichols, Sr.

Jerry “Gary” Thomas Nichols, Sr., 80, passed away peacefully on November 15, 2022, at his home in Ashtabula, Ohio.

He was born on June 28, 1942, in Corliss, West Virginia, the son of Harry and Genevieve (Estep) Rogers.

Gary proudly served his country by enlisting in the United States Army where he served for seven years from 1960-1967.

He married the love of his life, Linda G. Carroll on February 1, 1972, they shared fifty wonderful years of marriage together.

Gary worked at Kay’s Place and South Main Diner as a cook. He also worked as a groundskeeper at Chapel Hill and Maple Ridge Golf Courses.

He had many interests and hobbies: he enjoyed playing the harmonica, dancing, listening to country music, going to Walmart, playing poker, gambling, fishing, hunting, and bowling.  Gary loved Western’s and even participated in the OK Corral re-enactment in Tombstone, Arizona. He was known to many friends and family as, “Quick Draw”.

Gary is survived by his loving wife, Linda Nichols; his beloved children: Jennifer “Rosie” Nichols (Jeff Conrad) and Jerry “Jake” (Dolores) Nichols; his grandchildren: Shauna, Amanda, Jenna, Chris, Brianna, Justin, Abby, J.T., Gregory, Yvette, Christina and Joseph and his siblings: Anna Wake, Harry (Angie) Rogers, Jr., Flora (Scott) Pederson and Roy (Rachel) Rogers; and twenty-0ne great, grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Services will take place at a later date.
