James Smith

April 5, 1967 — June 1, 2021

James F. "Jimmy" Smith

Sheffield Township - Jimmy Smith, 54, passed away on June 1, 2021 at the Austinburg Nursing and Rehab Center while under Hospice Care.

He was born in Ashtabula, Ohio on April 5, 1967 the son of James F. and Jean (Holcomb) Smith.

Jimmy graduated from Jefferson High School in 1985.  Jimmy suffered life changing injuries from an automobile accident at a young age that left him confined to a wheelchair.  That accident never stopped him from doing the things he loved in life, like: hunting, fishing, taking care of his cows, coon hunting, 4 wheeling and his many dogs he had over the years; especially Slick and Daisy.  Jimmy was an inspiration and a fighter.  His will and determination was simply incredible.

He is survived by his loving family: his mother Jean Smith; his siblings: Matilyn (Walter) Sigley, Pam (Mark) Ynigues and Bruce (Bridget) Smith; as well as many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his father James in 2016 and his sister Jennivie Shaw in 2015

Funeral services will be held on Friday; calling hours will be from 11:00-12:00 at CZUP FUNERAL HOME, 1329 Lake Avenue, Ashtabula and the funeral service will follow in the Chapel at Greenlawn Memory Gardens, also on Friday begining at 12:30.
