Harvey “Jim” J. Rought

Jim Rought, 81, passed away on November 4, 2019 in Conneaut following a long illness.

He was born in Conneaut on September 2, 1938 the son of Charles and Helen (Castle) Rought.

Jim was a hard worker and provider for his family that he loved more than anything.  He worked many years for Union Carbide and after its closure he went on to work in the maintenance department of the Ashtabula Co. Youth Detention Center.

He loved fishing, traveling, and going to Lake Shore Park to enjoy the scenery.  Jim has a huge family and his happiest times were whenever he got together with his children and grandchildren.  He had the biggest heart and would do anything for his family.  He will be missed by them dearly.

He is survived by his loving family: his children:  Shelly (Bryan) Copeland, James (Charleen) Rought, Robert (Kimberly) Rought, Joseph (Jennifer) Rought, Bill (Ellen) Rought, Barbara (Eric) Pratt, Mike (Rebecca) Rought, Jennifer Rought, John (Alexis) Rought, James Bowers and Carolyn Lemmon; 32 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, his loving companion Mary Lott and his brother Charles (Frances) Rought.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Cathryn Lillybridge, his brother Walter and his former wife Gloria.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 3330 Lake Avenue Ashtabula.  The family will receive guest from 9:30-10:00 prior to the Mass in the church.
