Dolly Rossi-Leonhard, 93, Lifelong Ashtabula County resident, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2022, in the comfort of her home in Ashtabula Township, Ohio.
Dolly was born on November 14, 1928, in Cleveland, Ohio, the daughter of Vito and Mary (Guidara) Calogero.
Dolly has been a hard worker all her life. As a young girl she started a 40+ year career in the restaurant business; her parents owned the Cheerio Inn which later became Old Kings Tavern that Dolly purchased from her parents, and she owned and operated that restaurant for 30 years. After she closed the doors to the restaurant, she began a 21-year career with the US Postal Service. She was everyone’s favorite clerk, and she always had a smile on her face.
Dolly married Edward Leonhard in 2013, they shared 9 wonderful years of marriage together.
Dolly enjoyed traveling and spending the winter months in beautiful, sunny, Summerfield, Florida. Her true source of happiness and joy came from spending time with her loving family and friends. She was very proud of her family, and they will miss her dearly. Dolly had so many lifelong friends and her kind heart and beautiful smile will never be forgotten.
She is survived by her husband, Edward Leonhard, her children: Rita Carducci and Donald (Becky) Rossi; her grandchildren: Lisa Carducci, Tim (Mickie) Carducci, Donald (Crystal) Rossi, Jr. and Gina Rossi; her seven great grandchildren; her brother-in-law, Walter Alexander; her nieces and nephews: Darla Rhodes, Frank Calogero, Jr., Walter Alexander, Jr. and Michael Alexander; and her stepchildren: Karin (Ronald) Allen and Eddy “Laz” (Katherine) Leonhard.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her siblings: Joe Calogero, Nancy Alexander and Frank Calogero.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Friday September 16th at St. Joseph Church and burial followed in St. Joseph Cemetery.
