Arthur J. Tiroly, age 84, passed away at his home in South Euclid on May 5, 2023, after battling cancer. He is survived by his children, Kevin (Jennifer) Tiroly, and Marissa Tiroly; and grandson, Otto. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Donna (nee Ferree), who passed on December 31, 2020, and his parents Joseph and Margaret (Emody) Tiroly.
Art was born on June 13, 1938, in Cleveland, Ohio. As a young child, his family lived in
Cleveland’s Buckeye neighborhood before moving to Cleveland Heights. After graduating from Mayfield High School in 1956, he attended Kent State University where he was a member of Kappa Sigma and earned a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology in 1961. It was during his years at Kent that he met Donna, whom he married in 1962.
Art served in the Military Reserves in the Ohio National Guard from 1960-1966, during which time he received training as a medical corpsman.
He worked for several years as a plans examiner in the insurance industry before starting his own business, ATCO Fire Protection in 1977 (later, ATCO/ Tiroly and Associates). His dedication to his craft had him working as a consultant and plans reviewer up until weeks before his death. Upon entering any building, Art’s gaze would shift upwards to observe the sprinkler heads in a room.
Art was a sports car enthusiast with a passion for cars and performance driving. He was also a lover of backyard birds, and always kept the feeders full throughout the year.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Art’s honor to the National Audubon Society. The family invites friends to join them for a memorial service on June 10, at 1:30 pm, at Henn Mansion, in Euclid, Ohio. www.hennmansion.org
