Allan A. Wilenius passed away Sunday, August 6, 2023 with his loving wife by his side. Allan was born December 24, 1941 to William V. Wilenius and Dorothy M. (Winchester) Wilenius.
Allan was a graduate of Harbor High School class of 1960 where he played football. He was proud to be part of the Mariners 1958 undefeated football team. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army where he was stationed in Fort Hood, Texas and Germany.
Honorably discharged, he then returned home where he met the love of his life, Cathy Cinciarelli. They were married at First Baptist Church in Ashtabula on June 18th 1966 where they were able to spend 57 years together, but that clearly was not enough time.
Allan was a hard worker and did everything he could to provide for his family. He previously worked for True Temper, Rockwell Brake Plant, A&B Dock, and Presrite. He was in the Ohio National Guard, and a member of the VFW and American Legion.
Allan was proud of his Finnish heritage as well as living and raising his family in the Ashtabula Harbor. Allan loved the outdoors. He enjoyed bike riding, going for walks soaking up the sun in the backyard or at the beach, playing softball, mowing the grass, swimming at the YMCA silver sneakers program, racquetball, listening to live oldies music at the park, and taking his grandchildren to the playground. He had a love/ hate relationship with Cleveland sports and OSU Football. He loved attending his children’s and especially his grandchildren's school and sporting events.
Allan is survived by his wife, Cathy. Daughters Wendy Moore, Sherry Wilenius, Amy (Mike) Susevich, and Allison (Eladio) Lagoa. Grandchildren Tori and Eric Moore: Megan, Dylan and Jayden Stuper: Michael, Matthew, and Marco Susevich: Jacob, Lorenzo, Nadia, and Santino Lagoa.
