Albert W. Wilgus, Sr.
MADISON- Albert W. Wilgus, Sr., 93, passed away August 27, 2019 at The Lantern of Madison.
He was born in Cleveland, Ohio on June 10, 1926 the son of Carl and Katherine (Morgan) Wilgus.
Albert was the loving husband of the late Carol Joyce (Taylor) Wilgus, whom he married on August 18, 1951. They celebrated 52 years of marriage prior to her passing.
He was a proud WWII Veteran serving his country in the US Navy.
Albert was a lifelong Ohio educator; serving as a teacher from 1st Grade to college level courses, the past principal of Christian Life Academy in Austinburg, Ohio and past superintendent of Madison Local Schools. He was also a past Director of the Wadsworth Branch of Kent State University. Albert’s very first job came at the age of 14, he delivered telegrams on his bicycle.
He is survived by his children: Carol Ann Wilgus, Albert (Jeannie) Wilgus, Richard Wilgus and John Wilgus and his 5 grandchildren: Andrew, Amanda, Jon, Jessica and Julia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and his sister Mildred (Charles) Taylor.
A Celebration of his Life will be held Saturday October 5, 2019 at Perry First Baptist Church, 3918 Main Street, Perry at 11:00 a.m.; the family will receive guests from 10-11 at the church. Burial will follow in The North Madison Cemetery with military honors.
