Richard M. Arnold, 93, passed away on April 23, 2024, at the Sanctuary of Geneva.
He was born on October 13, 1930, in Ashtabula, Ohio; the son of George and Mae (Morton) Arnold.
Richard graduated from Ashtabula High School in 1949 and went on to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Air Force where he served from 1950-1954.
On March 3, 1954, Richard married his beautiful bride, Grace Duncan; they recently celebrated their 70th Wedding Anniversary.
Richard worked as a Tool & Dye Maker for True Temper and then ATC Geneva.
He was a dedicated member of the Saybrook Methodist Church where he was a member of the choir and a past trustee.
Richard had many interests, as a child he loved the country, at age 17 he learned how to fly an airplane by taking lessons from a World War II Veteran. He enjoyed taking care of his yard and tending to his beautiful flower and vegetable gardens. He also enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson, going camping and fixing just about anything.
He is survived by his loving wife, Grace; his children: Robert (Teresa) Arnold, Johanna “Joni” (Greg) Slepsky, Richard “Rick” Arnold, Jill (Randy) Serpico and Terri (Brian) Carter; his siblings, Peter Arnold and Alex (Nora) Arnold; his grandchildren: Kristen (Gary) Groetz, Sarah (Michael) Clay, Jami (Brad) Hough and Jacob Carter and his great-grandchildren, Addison, Gage, Theodora and Hadasah (Haddie) due in July of 2024.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his siblings: William “Bill” Arnold, Dave Arnold and Marge Mulder; his daughter-in-law, Kathy Arnold and his granddaughter, Sadie Schaubert.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2024, from 11:00a-12:00p at the Saybrook Methodist Church, a luncheon will follow at 12:00p. A burial of ashes will take place at 1:30p at the Saybrook Cemetery.
